The 447 public school teachers in Bago City, Negros Occidental, who were promoted under the Expanded Career Progression (ECP) System, were lauded for their dedication and passion for their craft as they took their oath on Thursday.

They comprise the batch with the highest number of promotions among all school division offices under the Department of Education – Negros Island Region (DepEd-NIR) reflected in the 2025 reclassification status.

“Your promotion is not simply about moving to a higher position. It is about rising to a greater responsibility. Congratulations for reaching the milestone after years of teaching, guiding, and supporting Bagonhon learners,” Mayor Marina Javellana-Yao said in her message during the mass oath-taking led by Schools Division Superintendent Neri Anne Alibuyog at the city coliseum and cultural center.

The approved reclassification promoted those qualified from Teacher I to Teacher VI and from Master Teacher I to Master Teacher II, with corresponding increases in salary and benefits.

The mayor told the teachers that their advancement gives them greater opportunities to influence learners, inspire fellow educators, and help shape the future of Bago City.

“While buildings, programs, and resources support education, an inspiring teacher who cares for learners and refuses to give up on a child remains at the heart of quality education,” she added.

Javellana-Yao encouraged the newly promoted teachers to continue learning, leading, and serving with the same passion that brought them to the profession.

Under the DepEd-NIR, at least 2,827 teachers have been promoted under the ECP for Fiscal Year 2025.

The ECP System for Teachers and School Heads aims to strengthen professional development and provide clearer pathways for career advancement among teachers and school heads, anchored on established qualifications and professional standards. (PNA)
