Antique’s Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO) reminded students to beat the Nov. 10 deadline in submitting their lacking documents to avail of educational assistance.

Irish Manlapaz, PYDO head, said in an interview Tuesday that from Sept. 11 until Oct. 28, about 19,000 college and graduate students in the province applied for the assistance.

She said the students need to resubmit applications that lacked documents or had clerical errors.

Among the documents they need to submit are their school registration form, school identification (ID), birth certificate, barangay indigency certificate, and a school certificate that they have not availed of other scholarships or educational assistance.

“We had given so much leeway already for the students to submit their documents, and so I hope they could already beat the Nov. 10 deadline,” she said.

Starting this school year, qualified students, whether in college or graduate school, could receive PHP6,000 to cover for the entire year.

In previous years, college students received PHP5,000, and those enrolled in the graduate program, PHP6,000, for every semester.

“There are more students availing of the educational assistance, so this year they are given PHP6,000 to assist others also,” Manlapaz said.

The PHP90 million budget allocated by the provincial government may not be enough for the 19,000 students who already applied, but the provincial government is looking for additional funds.

The PYDO will remove from its list of applicants those who cannot comply with the required documents on the given deadline. (PNA)
