Barangay Catalunan Grande here hosted the “Buntis Congress” Friday, providing free maternal health services to 100 pregnant women in collaboration with the City Health Office (CHO).
The event offered prenatal checkups, laboratory tests, nutritional counseling, and family planning services.
One of the participants, 31-year-old Rosabelle Bation, said the program helped her understand how to maintain her and her baby’s health.
“It adds knowledge on how to make our babies healthy as well as the mothers,” she said in an interview.
CHO maternal health coordinator Dr. Sharlene Tan reported the city has provided prenatal care to 5,652 women in 2025’s first quarter, including 609 teenage mothers.
Services include essential tests and vaccines available at all city health centers.
“We’re making safe motherhood accessible across Davao,” Tan said, noting available services range from blood tests to prenatal vitamins. (PNA)
