Antique’s provincial government is calling for shared responsibility in the protection of children as the country celebrates the National Children’s Month this November.

“As we strengthen the convergence of government agencies and community partners, this observance becomes an opportunity to renew our collective pledge to build a province where every child is protected, empowered, and given the chance to dream freely,” Provincial Planning and Development Officer Bienvenido Nallos Jr. said in his message during the kick off ceremony at the Evelio B. Javier Park in San Jose de Buenavista on Tuesday.

Provincial administrator Robin Rubinos also assured Antiqueños of the commitment of Governor Paolo Everardo Javier to upholding the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child through the annual observance.

“The development and protection of the children are priorities of our governor,” Rubinos said in his message.

Meanwhile, Board Member Joseph Eugene Alojipan said that they have an ongoing consultation with law enforcers, medical practitioners, and other stakeholders amid the reported cases of violence against children in the province.

“I am also crafting an ordinance that I intend to introduce before the year ends for the protection of the children,” said Alojipan, who chairs the Committee on Family, Women, and Children and Gender Concerns at the Provincial Board. (PNA)
