The Laoag City government, through its Public Employment Service Office (PESO), is expanding its career coaching for junior and senior high school students.

PESO head Shey Pia Abaya said in a media interview on Monday that the city will strengthen its career coaching program in 2026, focusing on learners in Grades 10, 11 and 12.

She said the initiative supports the Department of Labor and Employment’s mandate to provide career guidance to students, helping them prepare for future employment by identifying their strengths, interests and possible career paths early on.

The program is designed to help students make informed decisions about their education and career choices.

Career coaching sessions have already been conducted at Balatong Integrated School, Caaoacan High School and Holy Spirit Academy of Laoag.

Aside from career guidance, Abaya said the city government will also hold quarterly job fairs in partnership with public and private employers.

“We will be conducting job fairs every quarter in response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call to strengthen employment generation,” she said.

Abaya added that jobseekers from Laoag City and nearby areas can expect more opportunities in the coming months, with job fairs catering to high school and senior high school graduates, college graduates, and technical-vocational completers. (PNA)
