Six livelihood associations in Cauayan, Negros Occidental received PHP1.8 million in seed capital fund from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) local government unit-led program.
“May this assistance help strengthen your respective livelihood projects and create more opportunities for our fellow Cauayanons,” Mayor John Rey Tabujara said in a statement.
A municipal government report on Monday showed that the beneficiaries, who received PHP300,000 each, included the Talimagao La-a Small Farmers PAMANA Livelihood Project Association (PLPA), Mangga Guiljungan Fisherfolks PLPA, Caliling Pasalan Fisherfolks PLPA, Barangay Tomina Farmers PLPA, Barangay Tambad Farmers PLPA, and Barangay Sura ERPAT PLPA.
“The initiative highlights the importance of inter-agency collaboration and community empowerment in building sustainable livelihoods, improving household income, and fostering lasting peace in vulnerable communities,” the municipal government said.
It added that Cauayan remains committed to supporting livelihood development and creating opportunities for a more progressive and resilient community.
In May this year, five communist rebels died during a clash between troops of the Philippine Army’s 15th Infantry Battalion and remnants of the dismantled New People’s Army South West Front in the hinterlands of Cauayan. (PNA)
