The provincial government of Albay will extend financial assistance and mental health support to residents of Catanduanes who were severely affected by Super Typhoon Pepito (international name Man-yi) on Nov. 16.

Albay Acting Governor Glenda Ong-Bongao said on Tuesday that PHP1 million in cash aid is scheduled to be personally delivered to Catanduanes Governor Joseph Cua on Friday.

She said this assistance is a way of expressing gratitude and giving back to Catanduanes and the local government units (LGUs) that supported Albay during its challenges, including typhoons and volcanic eruptions in recent years.

“This assistance is aligned with the basic needs of the province, as initially requested by Catanduanes Governor Cua,” she said.

In addition to the financial aid, the Albay Provincial Health Office will conduct a medical mission for the residents of Bagamanoc town.

A team of 30 personnel will provide hygiene kits, breastfeeding kits, school supplies, coloring materials, anti-tetanus shots, and nutrition commodities, including medical intervention from five doctors and nurses from Albay province.

Albay will also bring a water purification machine and a water truck provided by the Philippine Red Cross, along with another water truck from the province. (PNA)
