At least six children of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were served during the day-long outreach activity of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-Naujan District Jail held inside the facility here on Feb. 22.

Among the services and items provided during the activity, part of BJMP Mimaropa’s “Kalinga sa Anak ng PDL Program,” include dental awareness and hygiene kits, gift-giving and food packs, and read-a-book and painting activities.

Regional information officer Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo said the outreach program emphasized the importance of hope, resilience, community support, and enabling PDLs to maintain connections with their loved ones.

“Recognizing the importance of family connection and communication for the PDLs, the initiative aims to bring hope, comfort, and essential support to their children, reinforcing the BJMP’s commitment to community service and social responsibility,” Anglo in a news release.

Anglo said the whole BJMP Mimaropa was also excited about reaching out and pouring the much-needed services, informing the public about the bureau’s program, and playing as an agent of change in society.

In response, Anglo said the children were very grateful to all the jail personnel who did not hesitate to help make the event possible.

“Their smiles and joy were strong indicators that they were genuinely happy and that all the extended support was worth it,” he added.

The BJMP Mimaropa spearheaded by its regional director, Jail Senior Superintendent Clarence Mayangao, remains committed to its mission of serving and uplifting the community, continuously seeking opportunities to extend assistance and bring hope to those in need. (PNA)
