The Department of Education (DepEd) is ready to assist licensed teachers working abroad and have decided to return home for good through the “Bayanihan Para sa Balikbayang Manggagawa: A National Reintegration Network (NRN) Fair” that is ongoing at its regional office until Thursday.

“This is in partnership with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) as our way of helping our returning OFWs (overseas Filipino workers), especially those licensed teachers who come home,” DepEd 6 (Western Visayas) information officer Hernani Escullar Jr. said in an interview on Wednesday.

Escullar said that through the fair, qualified OFWs can gain entry for Teacher I posts in public schools under the “Sa ‘Pinas, Ikaw ang Ma’am at Sir Program.”

If they have children in school, they can ask for information related to the Government Assistance to Students and Teachers in Private Education or the high school voucher program.

There is also on-site assistance for those who would like to enroll in the Alternative Learning System.

“This is for returning overseas Filipino workers and is not limited to the current situation. This is an opportune time to ask for assistance because we are willing to extend help through this reintegration network of DepEd and DMW,” Escullar said.

He said the fair is a big help to families affected by the Middle East crisis or who have lost their jobs abroad due to the situation.

Those interested may visit the reintegration fair from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until April 16. (PNA)
