The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) forged a partnership with privately-owned Saint Joseph College (SJC) in Maasin City to carry out the 2024 Citizen Satisfaction Index System (CSIS) in the city, the capital of Southern Leyte province.

Under the partnership between the DILG regional office and SJC, the school will be responsible for piloting all CSIS-related surveys in Maasin City, identified as one of the areas for nationwide CSIS implementation.

DILG Eastern Visayas (Region 8) Regional Director Arnel Agabe said in a statement that there is a need to highlight the significance of soliciting feedback directly from citizens to ensure that public services are responsive to community needs and preferences.

“Aside from the availability of services, looking into the awareness and satisfaction of constituents with the services being provided by the local government unit is also important,” Agabe said.

CSIS is an assessment tool to comprehensively assess citizen satisfaction across various sectors and aims to provide actionable insights for evidence-based policymaking and service delivery enhancement.

The survey investigates the seven areas: support for education, health, economic and investment promotion, social welfare, governance and response, public works and infrastructure, and environmental management.

Maasin, the capital of Southern Leyte province, is a 4th class component city with a population of 87,446 people. (PNA)
