The Department of Health Center for Health Development Ilocos Region (DOH-CHD-1) is targeting to inoculate 91,711 residents in the region against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) on the fourth National Vaccination Day from March 10 to 12.

In a phone interview on Wednesday, (DOH-CHD-1) Covid-19 focal person Dr. Rheuel Bobis said the total number 12,598 was allotted for Ilocos Norte; 12,184 for Ilocos Sur; 14,036 for La Union; and 52,895 for Pangasinan.

He said DOH-CHD-1 data shows that 25,471 are for second dose, 2,778 for A2 population or senior citizens, and 63,462 for booster shots.

DOH-CHD-1 regional director Dr. Paula Paz Sydiongco earlier said a more contextualized and granular vaccination intervention to identified targets will be implemented, such as those who have missed or are due for the second dose, remaining unvaccinated senior citizens, children aged 12 to 17, booster doses of economic and health sectors, and indigenous people and those living in geographically isolated areas.

“All local government units shall ensure dissemination of targets and directives and are strongly enjoined to issue orders or ordinances to push for the last mile vaccination coverage of the most urgent and vulnerable population,” she said in an advisory.

The Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic (CODE) team visit for the Bida Tungo sa New Normal roadshow will be led by Secretary Vince Dizon, presidential adviser for Covid response will be held in Pangasinan, on March 11.

Around 200 stakeholders composed of local chief executives, member-agencies of the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force, business chambers, local media, and the tourism sector from the provinces of Pangasinan and La Union are expected to join the roadshow.

Prior to the roadshow, Dizon will visit vaccination centers in Dagupan City.

Over 3.35 million residents in the Ilocos Region, or 78 percent of the 5.35 million target population, have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as of March 8.

The DOH-CHD-1 recorded a total of 7.1 million Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the region as of March 8. (PNA)
