The second booster dose for immunocompromised individuals is available in all district health centers of Iloilo City starting Wednesday.

Iloilo City focal person for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) Dr. Roland Jay Fortuna, in an interview, said they accommodate 18 years old and above with comorbidities and immunodeficiency population to include those with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), suffering from active or malignant cancer, transplant, and bedridden patients, among others.

“It is important because we know that our immunity also gradually wanes. That is why the Department of Health has already come up with guidelines with regards to second booster,” he said.

Fortuna added that all types of vaccines can be used for the second booster.

The recipient may opt for a vaccine similar to their first booster except for Janssen.

Fortuna added that the local government has vaccines to accommodate all types of inoculation and not just for boosters.

“Our health center is open not only for the second booster but also for booster, regular immunization covering five to 11 and 12 to 17 years old and our adult population,” he said.

Data from the Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH WV CHD) showed that Iloilo City has achieved 145.02 percent of its vaccination for adults with comorbidities during the first dose, and 124.27 percent on the second dose.

Iloilo City, according to DOH data, has 46,435 eligible A3 or adults with comorbidities. (PNA)
