The Negros Occidental provincial government has opened the Provincial Capitol Lagoon and Park here to visitors of all ages starting Monday as the province remains under Alert Level 2 status amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

In his directive, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson cited the guidelines for nationwide alert level system and his previous order that visitor or tourist attractions such as parks, plazas, public gardens scenic viewpoints or overlooks and the likes are allowed limited operation of up to 70-percent capacity to cater to individuals regardless of vaccination status.

“The Provincial Capitol Lagoon and Park is a popular visitor attraction for exercise, relaxation, and leisure for Negrenses. There is a need to implement new guidelines in order to align and conform with the issuances set forth,” he said.

The facility is now open to persons of all ages for any purpose, including leisure for up to 70-percent venue capacity.

The Provincial Capitol Lagoon and Park will be open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., with minimum public health standards prescribed by the Department of Health being strictly enforced at all times.

Visitors must undergo a temperature check before allowed entry, as well as observe physical distancing and wear face masks.

Lacson has designated the Provincial Incident Management Team as the implementation committee to ensure compliance with health protocols inside the park.

Lacson approved the reopening of the Provincial Capitol Park and Lagoon after it was closed due to Covid-19 quarantine restrictions. (PNA)
