The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has approved the Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP) submitted by the provincial government of Dinagat Islands.

Gov. Nilo Demerey Jr. personally received the approval documents and the notice of compliance from LTFRB Chairperson Teofilo “Vigor” Mendoza II on Monday, April 20. The provincial government originally submitted the plan on Dec. 2, 2025.

“These new routes will boost economic activities in the province,” Demerey told the Philippine News Agency on Monday, noting that the agriculture, fishery and tourism sectors stand to benefit the most.

He added: “These new routes also lead to major tourist destinations, including the pristine beaches in the province.”

The approved routes and their corresponding transport requirements include: San Jose – Cagdianao (vice versa): 20.69 kilometers; nine PUJ Class 1 units; San Jose – Basilisa (vice versa): 42.36 kilometers; nine PUJ Class 1 units; Libjo – Tubajon – Loreto: 29.56 kilometers; seven PUJ Class 1 units.

The LTFRB instructed the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Dinagat Islands to pass an ordinance officially adopting the plan. The approved LPTRP remains valid for five years and will be updated as the province’s transport needs evolve. (PNA)
