The completed 2.8-lane kilometer access road here is expected to improve the agriculture and aquaculture sectors of this town.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Ilocos regional office said Friday the access road leading to economic zones in Barangays San Roque West and San Manuel Sur of this town has reduced travel to the town proper from 25 to just 10 minutes.
“This makes travel easier when availing different social and health services, as the barangays were 6.30 kilometers away from the town proper,” DPWH-Ilocos public information officer Esperanza Tinaza said in an interview.
She added that the transportation and delivery of farm and fishery products to the local markets and business centers are now faster which would later transmit to economic gains in agriculture and aquaculture.
“This PHP47.5-million project, funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2021, was implemented by the DPWH La Union Second District Engineering Office, headed by District Engineer Gil Lorenzo,” Tinaza said. (PNA)
