President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday called for stronger support and greater collaboration to help refugees and stateless persons rebuild their lives with dignity and security.

In his message for the 3rd National Refugee Day Forum organized by the Department of Justice-Refugees and Stateless Persons Protection Unit (DOJ-RSPPU), Marcos reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to providing protection and assistance to people forced to flee conflict, violence and persecution.

“As a nation founded on the values of humanity and fairness, we recognize that safeguarding the worth of every individual is not merely an act of goodwill but a responsibility of a just and civilized society,” Marcos said.

Marcos lauded the DOJ-RSPPU for strengthening pathways that enable refugees and stateless persons to rebuild their lives.

“Your efforts affirm the Filipino spirit of solidarity and our commitment to helping vulnerable people regain stability,” he added.

He said the forum serves an important platform for government institutions, development partners and civil society organizations to deepen collaboration and expand access to education, livelihood opportunities, legal identity, and social support for persons of concern.

He expressed hope that discussions during the gathering would foster stronger partnerships, encourage innovative solutions, and advance responsive policies aimed at improving the lives of displaced individuals.

Marcos also called on Filipinos to help create a more inclusive society where people seeking safety are “welcomed with care and empowered to pursue a brighter future.”

“Together, let us continue shaping a Bagong Pilipinas where justice, inclusivity, and respect for every human life remain at the heart of our nation’s progress,” he said.
