The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA-13) reported on Tuesday at least 1,056,875 national identification cards have so far been delivered in the Caraga Region by the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) as of June this year.

During the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas forum here, PSA-13 Director Guillermo Lipio Jr. said the Philippine Identification (PhilID) cards will provide residents with convenience and secured transactions.

Since its implementation, the PSA-13 targeted at least 2,371,862 Caraga residents for Philippine Identification System Act (PhilSys) registration.

As of last month, the agency had achieved 98.6 percent accomplishment, with 2,341,085 residents registered in the system.

“Registration to the national ID system is among the primary mandates of the agency, including the conduct of national statistics, which includes periodic censuses, civil registrations such as birth, marriage, death, and other services,” Lipio said.

In the provinces, Agusan del Norte obtained the highest accomplishment in PhilSys registration with 101.6 percent, or 671,475 residents registered from a target of 660,382.

Agusan del Sur logged a 99.9 percent accomplishment, with 648,756 residents registered from a target of 648,903, while Surigao del Sur obtained 98.2 percent, with 528,313 registered from a target of 519,135.

Surigao del Norte also obtained a 93.8 percent success in registering 407,738 residents from a target of 432,378, while Dinagat Islands also got a 92.2 percent registration at 93,981 from its 101,886 goal.

Lipio also announced the ongoing deployment of trained enumerators in the different areas of the region following the start of the Census of Population and Community-Based Monitoring System this month.

“We, Caraganons, are urged to cooperate and provide an honest response to the enumerators conducting the survey as it will serve as the basis for policies to be created by the government,” Lipio said. (PNA)
