Redefined, Industry-Led Tourism Management Degree Program Now Offered In Benilde

Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM), the newest program of the School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management (SHRIM) of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB), is now accepting college freshmen applicants for the first term of Academic Year 2022 to 2023.

This is the institution’s timely response to the increased demand for relevant educational courses and professionals in the tourism and hospitality scene as the businesses begins to open up again amid the pandemic.

Envisioned as a redefined program, BSTM aims to produce new age experts, all knowledgeable in the foundations of the discipline, skilled in applicable competencies and innovators of products and services.

The program offers three specializations. Tourism Relations is in collaboration with the School of Diplomacy and Governance (SDG), with courses such as International Tourism Relations, Foundations of Tourism Diplomacy and Current Issues and Trends in Tourism.

Tourism Creations is a partnership with the School of Design and Arts (SDA) with subjects, to include the Fundamentals of Tourism Documentary and Non-Fiction Production, Business Ventures in Tourism Multimedia and Writing for New Tourism Media.

Tourism Entrepreneurship is in association with the School of Management and Information Technology (SMIT) with classes like Business Process Applied in Tourism, Fundamentals of Tourism Business Analytics and Advance Tourism Entrepreneurship.

Undergrads will be mentored how to evaluate the country’s competitiveness as a destination and develop a comprehensive study in line with the trust of the Department of Tourism (DOT), recognize the contribution of tourism to the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and promote national pride in Filipino heritage and culture.

BSTM graduates will showcase their unique talents and strengths in business and administration through the discipline of tourism. Equipped to be both innovative and creative, they will be lead professionals with career options as entrepreneur of tourism and transport enterprises, public governance executive in tourism, tourism development manager, foreign service associate, airline crew, hospitality professionals and travel writer, among many others.

Classes will be conducted under the mentorship of seasoned academe educators and licensed or experienced practicing professors, with occasional sharing from industry leaders and movers.

Senior high school graduates with general education program are welcome to apply.

The curriculum offers micro-credentialing, which allows students to build their qualifications and acquire certifications within the course of completing the program.

BSTM will require a total of 170 units and will run for 10 trimesters.
