The Young Deaf Summit (YDS) 2022 invites Deaf high school students from all over the Philippines to join this free online convention, scheduled for Friday, March 18 and Saturday, March 19, 2022.
Dubbed Planning A Positive Post-Pandemic Future, the two-day conference features a series of discussions that aim to equip the Deaf students with practical skills they can use to gear up for the uncertainties beyond the lockdowns.
The lectures are spearheaded by young successful Deaf Filipinos, who will share their prosperous journeys as professionals. They will impart some tips on how they cope and thrive through the pandemic.
Nicole Marie Magpayo, Assistant Administration and Relationship Manager of Goldbell Financial Services Singapore, walks the participants through her venture as a Deaf leader in a foreign land, while Iñigo Alfonso Asilo, ALCE Power Builder and Supply Assistant Finance Manager and 7-Eleven General Manager and Franchisee, reveals his success story as a businessman.
Educator Patrick Silver Padao and contract analyst Jan Loraine Lim delve on the transitions on the lifestyles and careers of Deaf professionals and students amid the stay-at-home orders.
Meanwhile, Pangadnoy restaurant owner Francis Ethelbert Pagaduan and Adphoto Inc. Marketing Associate and Social Media Manager Miracle Frigillano enumerates helpful pointers on how to foster a more inspiring, nurturing and positive environment as the world transitions to the hybrid set-up.
YDS 2022 is hosted by the School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies (SDEAS) of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB).
It is free and open to the public.
The sessions will be conducted via Zoom on Friday, March 18 and Saturday, March 19, 2022. It will run from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
